The Diploma in Digital and IT skills offers a practical route to learn computing theory and apply it to practical problems.

This course is for learners progressing from a Level 1 computing course or those progressing from GCSE’s who are inspired to become technology savvy and become producers of technology products and systems. Students on this course will use information technology to develop computer games, animation media and programming to develop software and write algorithms, alongside website and database development.

3 GCSEs at Level 4 or above.

Undertake one core module – Digital Skills carer progression, along with other module that build upon IT skills. These include practical labs to:

  • Configure Operating Systems and application software
  • Apply cyber security principles to given case scenarios
  • Develop and design databases
  • Build web sites using the .Net framework.
  • Develop social media marking
  • Work with digital production of multimedia products.

Computing students get involved in a range of activities as part of their course, from organising gameathons to creating and editing their own magazine. Other activities our students get involved in are:

  • Book Clubs
  • Duke of Edinburgh Award
  • Sports teams and tournaments
  • Trips and outings to theme parks
  • Animation competition

This Level 2 diploma in digital skills offers a clear progression route to a Level 3 courses in Computing. On the IT extended Diploma or the Diploma in Technical support.  This can also lead to an Apprenticeship.

The knowledge, understanding and skills you learn during this course will aid progression to further study and ultimately prepare you to enter the workplace.

This qualification will provide you with a taste of potential employment opportunities in the Information Technology sector such as jobs within computer games development, website development, animation development, database and software development.
