WHAT ARE A LEVELS?
A Levels are academic qualifications which are recognised by employers and universities in the UK and throughout the world. If you want to go to university or straight into a career such as Accountancy, A Levels are for you.
One advantage of A Levels is that you can combine a range of different subjects rather than focus on just one. So, you could study Film Studies alongside English Language and Psychology, or you could study Maths alongside Economics and Politics; the choices are almost endless.
WHAT GRADES DO I NEED TO GET IN?
We expect students to have a minimum of five GCSEs in academic subjects at grades 9-4 (A*-C) including at least a grade 5 (C) in English. Many of our students will have much more than this. Please see the individual subjects for entry requirements.
WHAT SUBJECTS DO YOU OFFER?
Sandwell Sixth Form College offers an extensive choice of subjects. If you haven’t studied a subject before, it doesn’t mean that you cannot do so at A Level. As long as you are keen and have the entry grades, you are free to choose a subject. Our staff will be able to advise you on what subjects you should choose if you are aiming for a particular career or university course.
All students are admitted to college on probation, which means you can change subjects in the first few weeks. We want you to be doing the subjects that you enjoy. Most students will choose three subjects in their first year.
