Honours Degrees (BA Hons and BSc Hons) are the qualifications that most people think of when they talk about ‘going to university’. They are accepted everywhere as a mark of academic achievement and in-depth knowledge. The degrees that we offer are all designed to boost your career prospects and give you useful skills for the world of work.
Foundation Degrees are vocational qualifications awarded by a university, with courses generally lasting two years. They have been designed in partnership with employers, in order to make them directly relevant to your career prospects. When you have completed your Foundation Degree, you could choose to convert it into an Honours Degree by studying for an extra year at university.
Higher National Diploma (HND) is a BTEC qualification that generally takes two years of full-time study. Hours may or may not allow you to work while studying. HNDs are widely recognised by employers, who value their relevance and practical aspects. Many universities will also take students who have a relevant HND into the second or third year of a degree course.
Higher National Certificate (HNC) is also a BTEC qualification that generally takes two years of part-time study. Like HNDs, they are great routes into employment and can also count towards a university degree for students who decide to take their education further.
