WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?

  • This is a two-year course, which has been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses to ensure that the content meets the needs of industry and prepares students for Employment within the occupational specialism of built environment.
 
  • The Outline Content for the T Level Technical Qualification in Construction: Design, Surveying and Planning has been produced by T Level panels of employers, professional bodies and Providers, based on
 
  • the same standards as those used for Apprenticeships

FORMAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

5 GCSEs at Grade C/Grade 5 including Maths and English plus an interview by a prospective Employer for industry placement.

WHAT DOES THE COURSE INVOLVE?

Knowledge of core 14 topic areas in the built environment

    • Specialist core unit in design, surveying and planning
    • An industry placement with an employer, for a minimum of 45 days
    • Around 80% of time will be spent in the classroom with the remaining 20% being spent in an industry placement.
    • College attendance is 2-3 days weekly
    • The T Level is made up of four component parts, with the Technical Qualification being the substantial component:
  1. Technical Qualification
  2. Industry Placement
  3. L2 English and maths
  4. Any other relevant industry qualifications deemed appropriate by the T Level employer

ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES

During the year, three weeks are set aside purely for the purpose of enrichment. In addition to this, trips related to the core programme may be organised.

Dedicated employer master classes and guest speakers to develop your behaviours to a wider understanding of the world of placement

There is usually no or minimal cost for any of these activities.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

  • Work placement for 315 hours
  • Technical qualification 80% (external assessment 2 core exams and ESP set by Pearson Edexcel)

WHERE CAN I GO NEXT?

This qualification will primarily prepare students to move into a skilled job but can also lead to further technical qualifications, higher apprenticeships or a degree course. Students who complete a T Level Technical Qualification in Construction: Design, Surveying and Planning will be able to choose between moving into a skilled occupation or further study; for example, a higher or degree level Apprenticeship, or higher-level technical study, including higher education.
