You’ll need a minimum of four GCSEs at Grade 4/C or above, or an equivalent Level 2 qualification (Cskills or City & Guilds). You’ll also need to attend an interview.
Our team of painting and decorating lecturers have worked and taught within the industry for many years and have a wealth of experience to pass to enthusiastic students.
On this course you will be studying general core units, including Information, Quantities and Communicating with Others, and Knowledge of Building Methods and Construction Technology. You will also study occupation specific units such as Applying Hangings to Walls and Ceilings, Producing Specialist Decorative Finishes, Carrying out Specialist Architectural Feature Work and Applying Paint Systems Using Airless Equipment.
We offer a residential week and various activity days, in addition to College-wide trips, sports and visits.
You will be tested on each unit by a qualified trainer. You will also need to sit a practical assignment set by the Construction Awards Alliance (CAA) and controlled by the trainer. Online tests covering the core units and the occupational units must be passed to achieve the qualification. These are independent assessments of knowledge and understanding, and are graded.
You could progress to Higher Education or employment.
