This course will give school leavers a good understanding of the core elements of working in the Health and Social Care sector, and prepares you for either employment or advancement to a Level 3 qualification.
Location: Central Campus
Start Date: 06/09/21
You’ll need GCSE Maths and English at Grade 3/D or Functional Skills Maths and English at Level 1.
The Level 2 qualification is widely recognised by employers. Some of the units you will study include safeguarding, communication, and care values. You will also complete a block placement of one-two weeks in a Health and Social Care setting which we will help you to arrange.
We are dedicated to enriching your experience here at Sandwell College with a range of opportunities. We have strong links with local employers including hospitals and local authorities, who frequently visit the college to provide learners with a unique insight into careers in the sector. We also visit settings with learners to give them a first-hand experience of life working in health and social care. We take learners to the Care Show at Birmingham NEC every year as well as numerous university events.
You will be assessed solely by coursework.
You can advance to the Level 3 qualification or go into employment.
