Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills

This Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills Course is for anyone who wants to develop their counselling skills for work or a personal capacity. The course is offered flexibly - either as a year-long evening course to fit in with your work commitments or as a fast-track daytime course lasting 18 weeks.

This qualification aims to introduce learners to the use of counselling skills in everyday life and work, and some of the approaches that underpin the use of these skills. Although you will be given the opportunity to investigate the knowledge and skills needed to use counselling skills and engage in a helping interaction appropriately, this qualification does not qualify you to practise as a counsellor.

The course is portfolio-based and all work will be submitted online. Units include:

• Introduction to counselling skills theories
• Diversity and ethics in the use of counselling skills
• Counselling skills and personal development

The course costs £417 but concessions may apply.

The Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills is internally assessed via an ongoing portfolio of work and individual tutorials.

Learners who achieve this Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills qualification could progress to the following:

• Level 3 Award in Counselling Skills and Theory
• Level 3 Diploma in Counselling Skills, offered by Sandwell College

The objectives of this qualification are to help learners to:

• progress to similar qualifications at a higher level
• progress to a role in which counselling skills are used
