This course is designed for people who have an interest in the art of drawing and want to know more about different materials and techniques. You will extend all your art skills across a variety of art media, in a relaxed and inspirational class. During the course, you will be encouraged to explore ways of working to develop further. Tutors will take you through exercises that help you to develop and build on fundamental skills. You will work towards developing your own unique artistic style, and you will develop at your own pace.
You will need to have basic drawing skills and a real enthusiasm to develop your art skills.
Times: Thursdays, 5pm – 8pm
The beginner’s course will include basic art skills such as observational drawing, perspective, scale and proportion, and colour theory.
Tutors will set up a simple still life and guide you through the process of starting a drawing and painting, as well as other exercises ranging from choosing a composition, to mixing colours, to building on fundamental skills.
You’ll be taken on a walk through art history and encouraged to talk about work that you like and work that you don’t. Tutors will be on hand to offer advice throughout the evening.
You will produce an art portfolio to show how your skills have progressed over the course.
