The ability to coach and mentor others is fast becoming a sought after workplace skill; as employers are increasingly using workplace coaches and mentors to develop the skills, knowledge and performance of their employees. Often Line Managers and Human Resource Management (HRM) staff within organisations are responsible for delivering coaching and mentoring interventions, so these courses are ideal if you already have some line management or HRM experience or if you plan to become a manager or work in HRM in the future.

Flexi-Study  enables you to fit your  studies in around your work and personal life.  The Flexi-Study approach combines one day a month of face-to-face classroom teaching with independent distance learning, using online, on-demand learning materials which are available 24/7.  You will also have a dedicated tutor who is there to support you throughout your studies. The monthly classes are delivered on a Monday from 9am to 5pm at the College’s Professional Studies Centre at Bennetts Hill in Birmingham City Centre.  New Street Station and Snow Hill Station are only a few minutes walk away and the area is well served by buses and trams.

How much does the course cost?

The total fee for this course (including registration and certification) is £2,100. HOWEVER, if you live within ‘West Midlands Combined Authority’ region, you may be eligible to a FREE place on this course subject to certain terms and conditions.

Course requirements

You must have gained a minimum of five GCSEs at grade C or above including English or equivalent qualifications.   Ideally, you will also have a CMI Level 3 Diploma or similar qualifications at level 3.  HOWEVER,  if you are a mature applicant (over 21 years) your work experience (paid and/or unpaid) may be taken into account in lieu of formal qualifications.

 

You will study seven units:-

  • Introduction to Management Coaching and Mentoring
  • Coaching Practice and Theory
  • Mentoring Practice and Theory
  • Management of Coaching and Mentoring
  • Using Coaching and Mentoring Skills as a Manager
  • Personal Development as a Manager and Leader
  • Management of Action Learning

 

Whilst on the course, you will be given FREE professional membership of the CMI, which includes access to a range of CMI products and services to support you throughout the qualification and later as you progress in your career.

 

When does the course start and end?

Start Date: 9th January 2023

End Date: 2nd October 2023

This qualification is assessed by one written assignment of approximately 2,500-4,000 words.

 

Progression opportunities include moving on to CMI qualifications at the next level, for example  CMI Level 6 qualifications in Professional Management and Leadership Practice or CMI Level 7 qualifications in Professional Consulting or  Strategic Management and Leadership.
