Only 1 in 5 managers have a recognised management qualification and yet employers are actively looking for people with these qualifications right now! Why not join the ‘1 in 5’ and make your CV stand out from the crowd by gaining a CMI qualification at Sandwell College? The ability to coach and mentor others is fast becoming a sought after workplace skill, as employers are increasingly expecting line managers to develop the skills, knowledge and performance of their teams using coaching and mentoring skills and techniques. This course is ideal for anyone who has line management experience or who works in the field of Human Resources, or who has aspirations to become a manager or work in Human Resources in the future. This course is currently funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority and is FREE to adults resident in eligible postcode areas.
You must have gained a minimum of five GCSEs at grade C or above including English or equivalent qualifications.
However, if you are a mature applicant (over 21 years) your work experience (paid and/or unpaid) may be taken into account in lieu of formal qualifications.
You will study two units:
• Principles, Skills and Impact of Coaching and Mentoring
• Coaching and Mentoring Processes
The course is delivered fully online with ‘real-time’ interactive classes taking place on Thursdays 6 – 9pm, using the Zoom video conferencing platform. Online, on-demand learning materials are available 24/7 and are accessible by both PCs and mobile devices.
Whilst on the course, you will be given FREE professional membership of the CMI, which includes access to a range of CMI products and services to support you throughout the qualification and later as you progress in your career.
In addition you will have a FREE LinkedIn Learning account throughout your studies, which means you will have access to over 16,000 free online, bite-sized courses.
Each unit is assessed by one written assignment of approximately 2,000-2,500 words.
On successful completion of this course, you can progress to the CMI Level 3 Diploma in Management Coaching and Mentoring.
Other progression opportunities include moving on to CMI qualifications at the next level, for example the CMI Level 5 Certificate/Diploma in Management Coaching and Mentoring.
