Only 1 in 5 managers have a recognised management qualification and yet employers are actively looking for people with these qualifications right now! Why not join the ‘1 in 5’ and make your CV stand out from the crowd by gaining a CMI qualification at Sandwell College? If you already manage projects within your job role or are likely to manage projects in the future or aspire to have a career in project management, then a CMI Level 5 Certificate in Project Management course may be ideal for you. The course will equip you with the knowledge and skills required to manage projects successfully and overcome problems and challenges during the project management process. During the course you will plan and manage a genuine workplace project. This course is currently funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority and is FREE to adults resident in eligible postcode areas.
You must have gained a minimum of five GCSEs at grade C or above including English or equivalent qualifications. Ideally, you will also have a CMI Level 3 Diploma or similar qualifications at Level 3.
However, if you are a mature applicant (over 21 years) your work experience (paid and/or unpaid) may be taken into account in lieu of formal qualifications.
You will study two units:
• Managing Projects to Achieve Results
• Conducting a Management Project
The course is delivered fully online with ‘real-time’ interactive classes taking place on Wednesdays 6 – 9pm, using the Zoom video conferencing platform. Online, on-demand learning materials are available 24/7 and are accessible by both PCs and mobile devices.
Whilst on the course, you will be given FREE professional membership of the CMI, which includes access to a range of CMI products and services to support you throughout the qualification and later as you progress in your career.
In addition you will have a FREE LinkedIn Learning account throughout your studies, which means you will have access to over 16,000 free online, bite-sized courses.
Each unit is assessed by one written assignment of approximately 2,500-4,000 words. The second assignment will involve proposing, conducting and reporting on a workplace management project.
On successful completion of this course, you can progress to the CMI Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership. Upon achievement of the Level 5 Diploma you may be eligible to apply for full membership (MCMI) or even Chartered Membership of the CMI (CMgr MCMI).
Other progression opportunities include moving on to CMI qualifications at the next level, for example the CMI Level 6 Certificate in Professional Management and Leadership Practice or CMI Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Management and Leadership.
