You'll be invited to a group interview, with a Question and Answer session after the course has been discussed. You'll then have a one to one interview; places are given, where possible, on the same day if you meet the course requirements. If you don't meet the course requirements, we can advise you on other courses that are available. A minimum of Level 1 ESOL is required.
The course teaches a range of barbering skills including following health and safety practice in the salon, client consultation for hair services, cutting facial hair and cutting men’s hair.
There are a range of in-house and external competitions you could enter.
Practical elements of the course will be assessed in our state-of-the-art salons, and you'll be required to produce a portfolio of your work throughout the course.
There are four exams which are externally marked, and all practical work will be logged in your VTCT assessment book.
Many of our learners have secured full-time jobs within the barbering industry or opened their own salons. Several learners have completed assessor courses and have gained employment within the college. Others have gone on to work with Steiner cruise ships' on board spa.
