GCSE English and Maths is an advantage. You’ll take part in a group interview, where you’ll be able to ask questions after the course has been discussed. This is followed by a one to one interview. If you meet the course requirements you’ll be given a place on the same day.
You will complete units which will include the following:
– Follow Health and Safety Practice in the Salon
– Client Care and Communication in Beauty Related Industries
– Create an Image based on a Theme within the Hair & Beauty Sector
– Provide Manicure Treatments
– Provide Pedicure Treatments
– Provide Facial Skin Care
– Apply Make Up
- Salon Reception Duties
– Shaping and Colouring Eyebrows
A minimum of 30 hours’ work experience is compulsory for all 16 to 18 year-olds as part of the main programme. Adult learners also have the opportunity to participate in work experience but it is not mandatory.
There are many opportunities to participate in trips to places such as Harry Potter World, Drayton Manor, and Blackpool NHF Hair and Beauty competitions.
Practical elements of the course will be assessed in our state-of-the-art salon on the fifth floor within the college. You will also complete online exams with the opportunity to retake a second time if required. All exams are marked externally by the awarding body.
After successfully completing this course, you can go on to study Level 3 Beauty.
