About Art and Design

We take your raw talent and passion for creating visual art, and we give it an edge with our stand-out facilities. Our Art and Design courses cover a wide variety of different disciplines, so you can try using your creativity in many different areas while learning basic design skills and artistic techniques.

Sandwell Arts Café with its illuminated floor is our exhibition space for your end-of-year art shows and collections of impressive work from students’ final projects. We are also based in the award-winning former art gallery The Public which featured installations by Tracy Emin and Turner Prize-winning artist Martin Creed, and provided the launch venue for Creative Black Country.

We collaborate and create experiences to inspire our audiences. We are a key part of a collaborative Creative Arts employer network whose members include the Arts Council, Creative Alliance, Creative Black Country, Multistory, Sandwell Arts, the University of Wolverhampton, as well as individual representatives and artists. These industry professionals give you unique insights into the skills needed for students to forge careers in the arts by contributing their knowledge, experiences and expertise.

• Experiment with a massive variety of media and disciplines, from fine art all the way to sculpture and textiles, and much more beyond
• Get your name out there in amazing public art projects like our award-winning mural at Rolfe Street station
• Work with companies and charities on live projects to express your true potential
• Visit art galleries in Liverpool, London and Manchester
• Create 2D and 3D designs in our Fab Lab and trial emerging new technology such as Augmented and Virtual Reality
