Who is this course for?

This course is for those want to teach in Further Education (FE), adult and community education, work-based learning and the voluntary sector. It is also suitable for technicians and support staff in further and adult education, and also for staff who conduct training in commerce, industry, the public sector, the uniformed services or HM Forces.

You must be qualified or experienced in the subject you intend to teach. Admission is by interview.

This 16-week course covers the basics of teaching in continuing and adult education – including how to plan sessions, motivate learners and use a variety of assessment methods. The course consists of 48 hours learning in College. You will also need at least 48 hours of home-study in order to complete assignments.

The course is assessed through a series of written tasks and a micro-teach. Tasks will be covered by classroom based activities and independent research.

You can progress to the 2 year Diploma course and then on to Qualified Teacher Status.
