Are you looking to get into the music industry? This course is aimed at enthusiastic and creative people who have either studied music technology before or have a good amount of practical experience in the area. Learners should have an interest in digital music production, live sound recording, mixing, remixing, composition, mastering, podcast creation and finding out how the music industry works.
At least one of the following:
• related Entry Level, Level 1 or Level 2 qualifications
• related musical experience
• a portfolio of music making activity.
Learners will study a variety of modules that will cover:
• using a digital audio workspace with a keyboard
• music sequencing and production
• digital recording and production
• remixing and production
• how the music industry works
• live sound recording
• podcast production
• music marketing
• organising a music event.
Enrichment activities will include visits to local recording studios and live music venues, recording and setting up live sound equipment for various college events, masterclasses and workshops with industry professionals.
You will be assessed through coursework and tutor observation of your performance in practical examinations. There will also be a lot of self-evaluation involved in the course.
Successful learners can progress from Level 2 to the Level 3 Diploma for Music Practitioners. This qualification is designed to give learners vocational experience, so progression into the industry is also a possibility.
