The 90 Credit Diploma in Business (equivalent to one and a half A Levels) allows progression on to the Extended Diploma in Business Level 3. It is a practical, one-year work-related course, focusing on the development of a range of specialist business skills.
Applicants should have either:
BTEC First Qualifications (merit grades) in related subjects backed by GCSE English and Maths grade A*- C, or at least 5 GCSEs at grades A*- C including GCSE English and Maths.
The 90 Credit Diploma is made up of 9 units. You will study four mandatory core units that everyone takes, and 5 specialist units, so you can study particular areas in more depth. The four core units are: The Business Environment, Business Resources, Introduction to Marketing, and Business Communication. You then study further specialist units that offer a sound underpinning knowledge in business practices.
There will also be an opportunity to complete a work experience placement.
There are various trips and activities throughout the programme e.g. paintballing and Alton Towers. UCAS workshops focus on choosing the right university course, writing personal statements, completing UCAS applications and student finance. We also organise trips to various universities and Higher Education conventions.
All units are assessed and graded using business-related assessment methods and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded.
Most students stay on for a second year to study the Extended Diploma, with the aim of going to university or straight into the world of business and commerce.
