This Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing - Technical Certificate is an exam-based qualification for school leavers who wish to pursue a career as an advanced hair stylist. Once qualified you will be able to start work as a fully qualified hair stylist.
You must hold a Level 2 qualification in Hairdressing.
Units on the Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing - Technical Certificate course cover:
A minimum of 30 hours’ work experience is compulsory for all 16 to 18-year-olds as part of the main programme.
There are many opportunities to participate in trips to places such as Harry Potter World, Drayton Manor, and Blackpool Hair and Beauty competitions.
Practical elements of the Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing - Technical Certificate course will be assessed in our state-of-the-art salons on the fifth floor of the college. You will be assessed on a service portfolio (coalition of learner’s work throughout the course).
Practical exams make up 50% of the grade for each unit studied. There are two exams that are completed online with the opportunity to retake a second time if required. All exams are marked externally by the awarding body and make up 30% of the grade. A practical synoptic exam equates to 20% of the final grade which will be Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction *.
You can progress to Level 4 Salon Management at University, or a Level 4 TAQA Assessors Award. You could also progress to a Level 2 Nails or Level 2 Beauty qualification, or upskill by studying one of our specialised short courses.
