WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?

• The ESOL (14-15) Academy is aimed at new arrivals and young people who have been in the UK for no more than two years, but who have not been educated here for more than one year. • The Academy is for Year 10 and 11 students who do not have English as their first language and cannot access the curriculum at school. • Students can come straight to college without referral from the Local Authority and can ultimately progress to a college vocational course or an apprenticeship. The ESOL (14-15) Academy is now accepting applications for September 2017. Applications will only be accepted from students currently in Year 9.

WHAT DOES THE COURSE INVOLVE?

All students will study these core subjects:
ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) - Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing
Maths - Functional Skills
IT - Functional Skills
Science
Tutorial
Enrichment.

IN ADDITION, AS THEY PROGRESS, ALL STUDENTS WILL HAVE A CHOICE OF OTHER SUBJECTS, SUCH AS:
Personal & Social Development
Personal, Social and Health Education
Work skills
Business Administration
Uniformed Public Services
Sports Studies
Construction
Motor Vehicle
Art
Travel and Tourism
Hairdressing
