This course will appeal to school leavers who are seeking to gain hairdressing skills with a focus on men's hair. It is ideal whether you wish to work in a salon or progress later on to the Level 3 Diploma.
You must have at least Level 1 Literacy or GCSE Grade 3/D in English. All applicants must attend an interview and assessment.
The course teaches a range of barbering skills such as shampoo and conditioning, cutting men’s hair, barbering techniques, cutting facial hair, blow drying men’s hair and changing men’s hair colour. All learners are allocated a personal tutor who will set targets, track progress, and offer support throughout the course.
There are a range of in-house and external competitions you could enter.
All practical work is assessed in our professional training salons; you will be required to produce a portfolio of evidence including photography of your work, written projects and online quizzes.
After successfully completing this course, you can go on to study at Level 3 or apply for an apprenticeship or employment with a barber’s or hair salon.
