What does the course involve?
You will have the opportunity to investigate a variety of creative and commercially orientated assignments. Good technical ability is developed together with a strong visual sense. Students are encouraged to embrace current trends and apply their ideas in a creative and individual way. This Diploma is delivered through a series of units which may cover: Darkroom Application, Darkroom Practice, Design Methods, Digital Imaging, Image Manipulation, Computer Applications, Location Techniques, Professional Practice, and Specialist Studio Photography.
Students’ work is regularly displayed at external venues. Recently students have had the chance to work in collaboration with visiting international photographers. Students are encouraged to participate in trips and visits such as the Blackpool Pleasure Beach day out.
How will I be assessed?
We set you a challenge. We show you how to do it, work through your ideas and then you produce the work in the form of a project. This includes all your planning and development work, the actual photos and some thoughts on how you've done. This is then assessed to either pass, merit or distinction level and then we move on to the next. This pattern is repeated throughout the two years with regular feedback on how you are getting on from your tutors.
