What does the course involve?
The majority of training takes place within the hairdressing salon where learners are assessed on practical skills. All lecturers are qualified to Level 4 and experienced in working within hairdressing salons. Most either are, or have previously been, salon owners. Students learn in the college’s state-of-the-art training salons, and work with real clients in the graduate Bliss Hair and Beauty Salon
Trips are organised throughout the year to various exhibitions and events, including Blackpool Winter Gardens college hairdressing competition, London Excel and local theme parks such as Drayton Manor. Trips may be subsidised via the Students' Union or welfare department, depending on funding available and individual status.
How will I be assessed?
Practical assessment will take place within the hairdressing salon. Written exams are online and marked externally, while written projects are marked internally.
Where can I go next?
Progression from this course is the A1/A2 Assessors award or PETTLS (teacher training).
