Who is this course for?
This one-year, part-time course is suitable for 16-18 year-olds as well as adults. It gives a practical, work related qualification that is equivalent to an A Level at grade A*- C.
Formal Entry Requirements
Generally, we look for four GCSEs at grades A*-C, equivalent qualifications or practical experience of working with computers. You will also need to achieve a Level 1/2 college test result for both English and Maths.
What does the course involve?
You will successfully complete projects and coursework based on real life or work situations. Units include Communicating and Employability Skills for IT, Computer Systems, E-Commerce, Website Development, Web Animation for Web Media, and Multimedia Design.
Computing students get involved in a range of varied activities as part of their course, from Army Away Days to creating and editing their own magazine. Successful learners are also awarded at a special departmental ceremony at the end of the year.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is by practical projects and coursework.
Where can I go next?
Students may progress to a Foundation Degree or the BTEC National Extended Diploma.
