Choose Central Campus, Sandwell College for Your Child
The other sections of this website will tell your child the full details of what we can do for them. This Parents and Guardians section is designed to give you some of the information you need to help them make the most important decisions on where their future will lead. It also contains information on the College and you.
Our sixth form
Central Sixth teaches A Levels and nothing but A Levels. The aim is to get your child into the university of their choice. All the facilities of Central Campus are available to our Central Sixth students, but they are taught completely separately from other students. Central Sixth receives five times more applications than it has places, so please apply as early as possible.
Our apprenticeships
Apprentices are at work with employers four days a week and studying for the other day. We organise all of this for them, and offer as much help as we can, but apprentices have to be much more independent than other students. That doesn't mean that you can't be involved and talk to us about your child's apprenticeship, you can!
Our vocational courses
Vocational courses are designed to give learners the skills they need to start a successful career and the qualifications that employers look for. With Level 3 courses being equivalent to three ‘A’ Levels, some of our top vocational students go on to successfully apply to university.
The way these vocational courses work is very different to school and very different to A Levels. There’s a lot of practical work, there is less emphasis on written exams, and courses are mostly taught by experts who have worked in that particular industry themselves. There’s also plenty of individual support from lecturers to help students succeed on their course and organise their time to get the work done.
Our tutors are keen to work with you to ensure your child is happy and successful here. Parents’ evenings are held across the year and we encourage you to attend.
At Central Campus, Sandwell College your son or daughter can look forward to a fantastic programme of activities, visits and events to make their life at College richer AND support from people who will treat them as individuals.
Visit
The best way to find out about our courses and apprenticeships is to visit one of our open events, talk to our lecturers and get all of the expert advice and guidance you may need.
Demand for places in the new College is high. Encourage your child to get their application in early, attend their interview, and get their offer of a place before the summer rush starts!
