Principal collects keys to new Central Campus

Keys to Sandwell College's new Central Campus have been officially handed over by builders Interserve to Principal Val Bailey and Chairman of Governors, John Tew.
The milestone occasion was marked at the Spon Lane site, at the heart of West Bromwich, just two days before Christmas.
Principal Val Bailey said: “This amazing building and iconic development will develop the educational skills in what is one of the most deprived boroughs in the whole country.
“This we hope will be the catalyst for the regeneration of this area and we’ll be expecting huge things changing in terms of what this college can do, not just for our students, but for the community at large.”
Sandwell College capital project director Sue Johnson added: “This is the most fantastic Christmas present for the college.”
Large specialist equipment from the motor vehicle, engineering, carpentry and joinery, plumbing, painting and decorating workshops will be disconnected at existing campuses and relocated to the new college immediately after the Christmas break, before staff start to move across to their new site during the Spring term.
This striking building will create the UK’s newest and most modern College of Further Education.
Open days during the second week of January will showcase the stunning atrium to visitors and prospective students.
