ESOL students meet Albion stars

ESOL with Olsson and LongESOL students from Sandwell College got an A for attendance from two Albion stars.
The group got to meet their football heroes Shane Long and Jonas Olsson at the official launch of the Albion Foundation’s Triple A project, which stands for ‘Albion Activating Attendance’.
Olsson and Long handed out special prizes to students with 100 per cent attendance and those who have made the most progress towards scoring their attendance goal.
During the past term sports coaches from the Foundation have been running training sessions in football, basketball and badminton with the college’s ESOL students to encourage improved attendance rates.
Team leader Maria Cori said: “This project has been tremendously successful and we hope to continue with the project when we move to the new West Bromwich campus.”
West Bromwich Albion Football Club’s official charitable trust, has formed a partnership with the Premier League Community Fund, Sandwell Local Authority and four Sandwell secondary schools in a bid to raise school attendance.
The Triple A project works with Alexandra High School, Tipton, The Phoenix Collegiate, West Bromwich/Wednesbury, St Michaels CofE High School, Rowley Regis, and Bristnall Hall Technology College, Oldbury.
