Doubles champions from Sandwell College batted off the competition to win a place in the national table tennis finals.
Doubles pair Robert Douras, and Connaire O'Toole, both 18, took the top spot in the British Colleges Sport (BCS) West Midlands Table Tennis Championships.
This now means the Public Services students will represent the county in the BCS National Championships at Bath University during Easter.
The dynamic duo will be competing against other regional champions for the right to be crowned national champions.
Forced to up their game and train fast after organisers brought the competition date forward, Robert from West Bromwich, and Connaire from Tipton, soon saw off rival table tennis teams, including one coached by a former British champion.
Sport coordinator Matt Hammett, who coached the boys to success, praised their “fantastic achievement”. He said: “We are clearly coming a long way in developing our sport provision. “We now have a solid foundation on which to build future successes and encourage talented students to enter even more competitions.”
