Public Services Diploma Level 2
Who is this course for?
This one-year course is mainly for school leavers, or anyone wishing to pursue a career in one of the Uniformed Public Services such as the Police Service, Fire Service, Royal Navy, Royal Marines, British Army, Royal Air Force, Prison Service, and UK Border Agency. The course also has links to wider public services such as HM Revenue & Customs and the Ambulance Service.
Formal Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs including English at grades D-E. Prospective learners will be initially assessed on their level of Maths and English and will need to attend an interview with the course tutor.
What does the course involve?
The course is split into seven distinct units, which involve theory and practical elements, to give an interesting and exciting mix of classroom activities and practical fitness sessions.
The main programme has seven units of study specifically on Public Services, including Adventurous Activities, Law and its Impact on the Public Services, and Improving Fitness for Entry to the Uniformed Public Services.
All learners will also undertake one Functional Skill to improve their employability (Maths, English or ICT).
We offer outdoor activities such as rock climbing, canoeing and sports. There are also opportunities to gain additional qualifications in Expedition Training.
How will I be assessed?
During the course all work is assessed through coursework, role plays, presentation and practical skills.
Where can I go next?
On successful completion of this course, you can go on to study any Level 3 qualification – in particular the Level 3 Public Services Diploma. Alternatively you could apply to join the uniformed public services.
