Who is this course for?
This Advanced Apprenticeship is a high quality work-based learning programme for people who wish to develop their prospects and careers as pharmacy technicians, supporting pharmacists.
Formal Entry Requirements
You will need to have at least 5 GCSEs at grades A – C, including English and Maths. Entry is subject to a satisfactory interview and college assessment.
What does the course involve?
This is a two-year course where you will attend college one day per week. On this Advanced Apprenticeship you will support the pharmacist as a pharmacy technician. You will dispense medicines and products, provide information and advice, control stocks, and provide information on symptoms and products to customers. The award includes the Level 3 Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science plus NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills, and the required Key/Functional Skills.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment will be through a combination of coursework and portfolio building - mainly within the workplace – online testing, oral questioning, professional discussions and assignment work. Your progress on the course will be regularly monitored through individual tutorials.
Where can I go next?
Successful advanced apprentices often go on to a Foundation Degree.
