Who is this course for?
This one-year course is designed for 14-19 year-olds who need to gain qualifications and skills to access their chosen career.
Formal Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for the What Next? programme, but all applicants are required to attend an interview and undertake an initial assessment of their English, Maths and ICT.
What does the course involve?
You will have the opportunity to gain nationally recognised qualifications in Functional Skills English, Maths and ICT, Personal and Social Development, Vocational Studies and Employability Skills, as well as other life skills courses such as Drug Awareness. You can gain many skills that will benefit you throughout your future.
Our excellent facilities, well qualified, experienced and enthusiastic staff can assist you to make suitable choices from a wide range of courses. You will receive excellent support and guidance about your future career options. You will be able to find areas of study that are right for you.
You will also have the opportunity to work in the community and access vocational areas throughout the college.
Learners will have the opportunity to take part in various activities, trips and sporting events. Some activities may be subsidised.
How will I be assessed?
A range of assessments including practical, written, computerised, online, oral, coursework, and portfolios.
Where can I go next?
More than 90% of our learners progress to mainstream courses, work based training or employment, after successfully completing this course.
