First Diploma in IT - Edexcel
Who is this course for?
This one-year course is designed for those who wish to gain a practical, work related qualification in IT, equivalent to four GCSEs at grades A*- C.
Formal Entry Requirements
Three GCSEs at grade D, or equivalent qualifications. You will also need to achieve a Level 1 college test result for both English and Maths.
What does the course involve?
Learners will successfully complete projects and coursework based on real life or work situations. Core units include Communicating and Working in the IT Industry, and Computer Systems. The course also includes units in Computer Graphics, Animation Techniques, Developing Computer Games and Multimedia Design.
Computing students get involved in a range of varied activities as part of their course, from Army Away Days to creating and editing their own magazine. Successful learners are also awarded at a special departmental ceremony at the end of the year.
How will I be assessed?
Practical projects and coursework are graded with Pass, Merit or Distinction.
Where can I go next?
You could progress to the BTEC National Subsidiary Diploma, an A level or equivalent course, or into employment.
