Who is this course for?
Adult learners from the age of 19 upwards, wishing to study a professional qualification to enable the support of children in terms teaching and learning within a primary, secondary or special schools.
Formal Entry Requirements
You will need a Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or relevant qualification, plus the ability to achieve Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy at assessment.
What does the course involve?
The course comprises eleven mandatory units:
Communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults
Schools as Organisations
Support Learning Activities
Promote children and young people's positive behaviour
Develop professional relationships with children, young people and adults
Promote equality, diversity and inclusion in work with children and young people
Support assessment for learning
Engage in personal development in health, social care or children's and young people's settings
Support children and young people's health and safety
Understand child and young person development
Understand how to safeguard the well being of children and young people
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is conducted formally within the work placement through direct observation. Tasks and projects will also be set in order to successfully complete a professional portfolio.
Where can I go next?
Successful students can progress to a variety of specialist courses in the field or to the Foundation Degree in Early Years.
